Place of birth: Chibougamau, Quebec As a child Dominique Jolin made toilet-paper clothes for earthworms, revelled in the "squishiness" of mud puddles, developed her imagination (by watching tv!), and loved to draw. A wide variety of interests and an unbridled curiosity led her to studies in children's literature, creative writing, and writing for the screen while at university. Since graduation she has co-hosted a series of 12 television broadcasts for Radio-Canada, worked as an illustrator for Lurelu, and has been a photographer, picture-book illustrator, and author. Her Mr. Christie Award in 1992, for C'est pas juste!, recognized a talent for portraying the activities and feelings of children with liveliness, vitality, and perception. A bonus with Dominique Jolin's books is the humour which permeates text and illustration and which appeals to children and adults on different levels ensuring repeated readings enjoyed by all. Awards
