Library and Archives Canada salutes a great Canadian
with its new virtual exhibition
Sir John A. Macdonald: Canada's Patriot Statesman

Ottawa, July 7, 2008 - Library and Archives Canada (LAC) is pleased to announce the launch of its virtual exhibition ARCHIVED - Sir John A. Macdonald: Canada's Patriot Statesman. It will be online as of July 9, 2008 at the following address: www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/sir-john-a-macdonald/index-e.html.

The exhibition pays tribute to this great Canadian through photographs, documentary art and other special documents from the LAC collection. It also features tens of thousands of pages from Macdonald's political documents and correspondence, enabling all Canadians to get a closer look at his life, career and legacy. The exhibition is funded by the Department of Canadian Heritage through its Canadian Culture Online Program.

Invitation to the Political Junkie Café

The public and media are invited to learn more about Sir John A. and this virtual exhibition by attending the Political Junkie Café which will be held July 9, 2008, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Exhibition Room A, at 395 Wellington Street, Ottawa. The topic will be Pin-Up Prime Ministers, Part l: Success. Scandal. Sir John A. The event is organized by the LAC Forum on Canadian Democracy and will feature noted guests Thomas Axworthy and Arthur Milnes.
