Records of the Committee of the Executive Council appointed to investigate the claims submitted by the estate of Dr. James Bowman document his identification and treatment of persons afflicted with the "maladie de la Baie Saint Paul". Related records of 1785-1791 are found in the "S Series" (RG 4, A 1) and the Public Accounts (RG 1, E 15 A). The original order of the documents was reconstructed in 1981, according to schedules prepared by the Clerk of the Executive Council, from which it is clear that certain documents submitted to Council have not survived.
