Fonds consists of diaries of Keitaro Matsubara, 1942-1946, 1949-1952, 1955-1960, 1965-1966, 1969 and photographs of the life of the Matsubara family as workers on a sugar beet farm near Holmwood, Man.; certificate of Naturalization which was registered each year between 1914 and 1941; several other documents which had belonged to K. Matsubara. The fonds also contains photographs depicting Keitaro Matsubara and his family on the sugar beet farm, 1944-1947.

Keitaro Matsubara was born in Higo, Japan, and immigrated to Canada an 1907. He settled in Eburne, B.C., where he earned a living as a merchant. Subsequently, he became a clergyman, possibly for the United Church. In 1942, he was relocated with his family to Holmwood, Man., where the family worked on a sugar beet farm.
