Scope and content

As the official gazette of the province, the Quebec Gazette appeared in bilingual format from its first issue in 1764 until 1832, when a separate French edition was begun (see series D 2). The series consists of a variety of broadsides bound within this run of the gazettes which bear annotations by the publishers (William Brown, Thomas Gilmore and John Neilson). Accounts and correspondence relating to its publication are found with the Neilson Collection (see MG 24, B 1).

Related materials
Numerous single issues of the gazette were enclosed with despatches sent to the Colonial Office and may be found in Colonial Office 42 or MG 40, A 2 with the "duplicate despatches".

The Quebec Gazette is available on microfilm through Library and Archives Canada (NLC reels N-25 to N-38, N-9405 to N-9416, N-13419 to N-13536 and N-17455). Finding Aid 1807, the card index, is available on reels C-7071 to C-7095.
