  • Semi-fictional memoirs of a Sherman loader-operator, later gunner and crew commander in the Fort Garry Horse and Canadian Grenadier Guards from D-Day to the end of the war. Even though much of the dialogue is forced and the analysis relies on hindsight, this is still a fine account of service in an armoured regiment in action
