Biographical Sketch

Actor, director and theatre professor Marcel Sabourin has played an active role in Quebec theatre and film for 45 years. Born in Montreal, Quebec in 1935, he studied at the Collège Sainte-Marie, at the Théâtre du nouveau monde and in Paris. He was the co-founder in 1954 of the Compagnie de Montréal, performed at the Théâtre de l'Égrégore and directed at the Théâtre Club. He teaches improvisation at the National Theatre School. Recently, he has worked extensively in films, among others: J.-A. Martin photographe (1976), The Hitman (1991) and Lilies (1996).

Scope and Content

The Marcel Sabourin fonds contains programs, advertisements, costume sketches, the script of Le Licou (1958?) by Jacques Ferron, and production notes for Le Licou and L'Ogre (1949?) by Jacques Ferron.
