Gallery - Selling Canada at Home and Abroad

Government agencies and Canada's two national railways, which stood to gain from the country's colonization efforts, celebrated the ways in which immigrant settlers and foreign-born workers encouraged Canadian progress. These images were used to show both domestic and foreign populations that with hard work and determination, anyone could prosper on Canadian soil.
