Canadian Broadsides Collection Subjects Broadsides, Canadian; Ephemera, Canadian; Canadian poetry--20th century History The collection has been growing steadily since circa 1975 through gifts, purchases and legal deposit. In 1995, when the transfer of 1000 items from the National Archives Library doubled the size of the collection, it was decided to physically separate all broadsides to form a special broadside collection. Description The collection comprises approximately 2000 Canadian broadsides printed between 1755 and 1995. Four hundred titles are 20th-century limited edition Canadian poetry broadsides printed since 1950. The remaining items cover a wide range of subjects: from a Halifax Custom House form printed in the 1750s by John Bushell and a royal proclamation of 1775 printed in Quebec by William Brown to early nineteenth-century circulars from the Postmaster General's Office and late nineteenth-century election broadsides. Language English and French. Holdings 2000 titles. Bibliographic Access Half of the collection is catalogued and accessible on AMICUS. The remaining items, those transferred from the National Archives in 1995, are in the process of being catalogued. LC classification is used.
